“Renee addresses her landscape photography in an autobiographical way.
There is an interesting connection the land holds as a self-portrait in her work, the land she depicts reflects herself and her experiences exploring Australia and forming her identity here. Something to be contemplated is the repetitive sense of space in the images, a space which in some ways reflects the clean slate she has started with in this new country.
Throughout her process of documenting and capturing the Australian landscape, she is not only discovering new places, but also building herself. She does this with a quiet sensibility which is present in the work. Renee creates subtle, open, meditative spaces for contemplation. She invites the viewer into this open space where they too can discover something about themselves.”
